In January 1997 ChemCon was founded as a GbR by Dr. Peter Gockel and Dr. Raphael Vogler. ChemCon (derived from Chemical Consulting) started by offering chemical process consulting. The idea for the start-up arose from a research project at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg in close co-operation with a U.S. company.
In June 1998 ChemCon opened their first CGMP clean-room facilities. In the very same year the first employees were hired.
In March 1999 the ChemCon GmbH was founded. A microbiological department and an R&D laboratory were equipped. Triple digit growth enabled ChemCon having 10 employees by the end of the year.
In July 2000 ChemCon passed the first FDA audit without any deficiency and was Germany´s youngest, independent company with this certificate. ChemCon has worked on about 1000 projects with more than 250 realized syntheses, 25 Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients in different phases and 4 drugs for the American and European market.
ChemCon has multiplied their floor space since their foundation. The number of employees increased to almost 40 by the end of 2003. In 2003 ChemCon has started an apprenticeship program that gives young people the chance to become certified laboratory assistants.
In August 2003 the ChemCon America Inc. was founded in Florida, a 100% subsidiary of ChemCon GmbH. This well planed step was made to intensify the services for our U.S. customers. A local R&D laboratory will follow the sales and service office in the near future.
